Ryan Adams Launches a Sweet Cardinology Pre-Order

October 8, 2008

We’ve been doing a lot of posting about Ryan Adams lately, but that’s only because he’s been giving us a lot to post. In the latest installment of where’s Ryan, Ryan is giving you the opportunity to pre-order his band’s new album, Cardinology, on limited edition red vinyl and while you’re at it receive a limited edition t-shirt, some tour postcards, and more goodies for the reasonable price of 40 bucks. You better hurry though, because this baby was launched yesterday and two sizes of shirts are already out of order (though there is a “Request restock” button).

Then of course, that book pre-order and tour we told you about have launched as well, as of two days ago and one week ago respectively. Ryan and his Cards sure are busy guys as of late, and that makes me happy. Car issues did not permit me to see them in Indianapolis as I had planned, but rest assured, next time they’re near me, I’ll be there asking for Call Me on Your Way Back Home.

Get to orderin’.

Ryan Adams Announces Book Pre-Order, Bonus Poetry Book, New Album!

September 19, 2008

Ryan Adams is nothing if not prolific, so the fact that a new record from Ryan & his Cardinals, in addition to a book which comes with a bonus book of poetry is on it’s a mere year after Easy Tiger was released, it should only shock you because it took so long. The album has a super lame title, Cardinology, but that’s okay because Ryan has never been good at picking titles, and it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

What’s on the inside is 12 songs, all new of course, and a new band name…sort of. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals has become, simply, Cardinals for the band’s fall tour, but it looks like Lost Highway isn’t going to allow that on the album cover. Even when Ryan tries to be selfless it ends up making him look arrogant. Poor guy.

Oh, and that book I told you about a while ago? It’s going to be available for pre-order via publisher, Akashic, on October 6th. According to the site the book won’t be in stores until March, but the pre-orders will ship “before then, like December or January.” How’s that for precision? The book is called Infinity Blues and the pre-order comes with a bonus Chapbook of Ryan’s poetry! Pre-order it here.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, you can see Ry-man and the Cards on tour this fall, as early as next week if you’re lucky. I’ll be at the Indianapolis show, requesting that he play anything but Halloweenhead.

Ryan Adams Shows His Book Cover

August 26, 2008

“Man, this is just crazy, like when i saw the first test pressing of the first 7inch record i was on….. i feel like i will be able to say i left a little of my heart here, for when i am gone, maybe there will be comfort or safety in there, for people i will never know, for our generations never passing”

Aww. Ryan sure is sensitive these days. No word on what exactly this book is about, though I am putting my money on some mixture of poetry and blog-style narrative. A blog book? What would that even mean? Admittedly, I’d totally buy a coffee table book of Foggy’s greatest hits.

Ryan Adams ressurects Foggy, Makes Fake Garage Rock

August 22, 2008

Ryan Adams lied when he said he was going to stop blogging a few months ago and broke our hearts. I think I can find it in my heart to forgive him however, since he has since announced and expanded a “Cardinals” tour (no Ryan Adams & the____), completed a record, and now resurrected said blog with an astounding rate of PPH (posts per hour). A few posts down you’ll see his “best dumb video ever” and I have to agree. He’s freehanding a mic singing a White Stripes-esque song into garageband and it’s magical.

Read the ry-man’s thoughts. My favorite excerpt:

“i dont care if the cardinals dont care that i am having a fucking fashion (or anti-fashion) meltdown anyway,

they are just using me anyway

THATS RIGHT
for discounts

at like, Comic Bizarre, on like 234th street and Elevendy Avenue.

bastard.

i will show them

i am going to dress so f’n good then solo- over all of the,- even over my own solo’s- i’m gonna get like a solo- delay system so the whole show is like me in a solo, (no shirt) and like some small soccer shorts plus those knee high socks white one’s and PUMAS

fuck it all”

R.I.P. Foggy (Ryan Adams’ blog)

April 16, 2008

Via Ryan’s tumblr today –

“The Sad Truth Is This Blog, It’s What Happens When One Day You Don’t Have That Person You Talk To Everyday Anymore. They Leave. Any You Get Desperate. And Pathetic. And You Don’t Know Who To Talk To. Life Goes On Without You. That Is What This Is. This Is A Horrible Loneliness. I Hate It. I Hate It So Much I Do It Every Fucking Day.

so i quit.

i quit. i am an excellent thing to quit, my own self, actually.
obviously. so obviously.”

Well, they say all good things must come to an end, and that thing was seriously good: from songs about itself, shopping, and not being able to share his real songs to posts detailing every detail of Ryan’s life.
