Now this is a fun little remix. I’m sure we’ll disagree since me and my readers seem to think the exact opposite of each other when it comes to all things danceable but oh well. There’s not too much changed about the song itself which I feel is important but the beat is altered a little bit, the vocals are a little faster and higher which give them a sort of MJ feel and it’s all around a pretty fun one to listen to.

“We’ve been longing to get in the studio for a while because we got out of it recording our last album about a year ago. So we’re definitely ready to start working on some new stuff but I think in January we’re gonna start recording and hopefully put an album out next summer.,” says MGMT frontdude Andrew Van Wyngarder. That’s certainly good news for all of us who’ve been jamming on 2007’s Oracular Spectacular and, in my case, even 2005’s Time to Pretend.
In other news they announced some tour dates, unfortunately nothing near me, but perhaps you’ll be luckier.

Here’s another great remix from Immuzikation for your sunny afternoon. It’s pretty wonderful, too. LCD Soundystem is sort of a saving grace in their genre to me: in a world of leather wearing, french cigarette smoking, mustachioed hipsters, James Murphy’s chubby sloppiness is the most wonderful thing imaginable, and the pairing with the MGMT track here is pretty perfect.

MGMT is, to me, a most unfortunate type of band: they’re a band who was too overexposed too fast. Before I could even give them a listen I was sick of hearing about them, and when I do so, I like what I hear. Had I discovered the Brooklynites on my own I’d probably be a pretty regular fan. Popularity is a double edged sword.
The booming epi-electronics of Time to Pretend‘s narcotic and neurotic hook make for a nice drive on an open road at night. Try it!
