Como Te Llama?

July 3, 2008

Albert Hammond JR. and his band have done something that bands across the world have been trying to do for years, very few succeeding. They’ve captured what it’s like to be a 20-something slacker musician wasting a summer away on tape. Unlike his day job, a guitarist in a band called The Strokes which you may have heard of, his second solo LP is a plesant departure towards a slightly more polished, slightly more danceable, and slightly more enjoyable (in my humble opinion) sound. The garage rock is stripped away for a dancier, breezier, dance-punk sound which is delightfully undeniable, and immediately enjoyable.

Re-invention of the wheel? Nope. Improvement on something that was already good? You bet.

Como Te Llama comes out July 8th and you can pre-order it now. That is precisely what I suggest you do, it’s a wonderful record beginning to end. If you’re not sold yet you can hear the whole thing for free in streaming glory at myspace.
